Mumbai Water Project

It all started when I reached out to Dr Indrani Pal who is a water scientist and professor at Columbia University and is also one of my mentors on this project. Dr Pal and I were talking on a Zoom Call, and she posed this very seemingly simple question “Where does your water come from?” And, I replied, you know, “Oh, water evaporates and then precipitates” and then she said “No, what are the systems in place that bring water to your community — what are the factors, public policy, climate change, human use, and how do these affect your community’s water supply? Where does YOUR water come from?” And I was stumped.
This research project was born out of a very simple idea – tracing my water’s journey.
This entire experience of tracing my community’s water has been an incredible learning experience. And I’m really grateful to my mentors because this journey has been just so rewarding.

Water cycle diagram

This research project on tracing my community’s water has given me an understanding of the broad urban water cycle. The same is reflected in the water cycle diagram.

Air Pollution & Pneumonia

Case study done by me on air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. Built an AI model using Neural Networks, CNNs to classify X-Ray reports as normal or pneumonia. Authored a research paper on “ Effects of air pollution on children’s mental health” for Lung Care Foundation.
