Paid Internship/ Sustainable Energy Curriculum
SELCO Foundation (https://selcofoundation.org) is the community outreach arm of SELCO. SELCO has pioneered the delivery of sustainable energy to the poor in India in a manner that creates assets and results in long term poverty alleviation. These sustainable energy driven solutions increase incomes, improves quality of life, and alleviates poverty.
Its core objective is Alleviating Poverty and Fighting Climate Change through Decentralised Renewable Energy Driven Solutions
I was fortunate to get the opportunity to do an internship with SELCO Foundation. My internship at SELCO began with a field visit where I could meet the local farmers. Listening to them gave me insights into their problems of post-harvest losses due to a lack of proper cold storage facilities. I had the opportunity to work with the team in the development of a solar-powered cold storage solution which would be an eco-friendly way of storing their produce. It has provided me with on the ground experience in creating sustainable solutions for rural communities
Inspired by the work done by SELCO, I have developed a Sustainable Energy Curriculum to educate and raise awareness among the rural youth. Through this course, we aim to inspire the youth to adopt clean energy practices so that they can become the sustainability champions of tomorrow.
This experience helped me combine my passion for sustainable technology with practical work and learning. It has inspired me to continue working towards a sustainable and equitable future.
